Playproof

Privacy

Last updated 20 October 2026

Playproof is built so that your music, playlists and recordings never leave your computer. This page lists the small amount of data that does travel, and why.

The short version

Who is responsible

NETTVIS AS, organisation number 934 445 562, Norway, is responsible for the data described here. Write to legal@playproof.app with any question about it.

What stays on your computer

To do its work, Playproof keeps some data in your browser's own storage: the folders you've allowed it to read, analysis results and audio fingerprints (so nothing is measured twice), your gig checklist and settings, and your licence. All of it stays on your computer. You can clear it under Settings → Data in this browser, or by clearing this site's data in your browser.

This isn't only a promise. The site is served with a security policy that lets the page connect to one place only: playproof.app itself. Your browser enforces it, and you can see it in your browser's developer tools.

Licence keys

When you activate a key, Playproof sends our licence service on playproof.app the key and a browser name such as "Chrome on Windows", so you can recognise the activation later in a list. The service looks the purchase up at Stripe, records the activation there (an ID and the browser name, stored with the payment), and replies with the licence's status and the activation ID, which Playproof keeps in your browser. At most once a day while you use Playproof, it sends the key and the activation ID to check that the licence still stands. Deactivating a browser sends the same two. Like any request on the internet, these reach our host, Cloudflare, along with your IP address; the service doesn't store IP addresses. We can see a key's activations, with their browser names, in our Stripe dashboard.

Right after you buy, Stripe sends you back to Playproof with a reference to your checkout. The licence service uses it once to look up the purchase and create your key.

Buying a licence

Stripe is the merchant of record for purchases, through Stripe Managed Payments ("sold through Link"). It collects what it needs to take payment, charge the right tax and prevent fraud — typically your name, email address, billing address and payment details — and is responsible for that data under its own privacy policy. We receive the order details: your name, email address, country and what you bought, never your payment details. We use them to provide support and refunds, and to tell you about anything important that concerns your licence. We don't send marketing emails.

Visiting the site

playproof.app is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes the technical data needed to deliver the pages and protect the site, such as IP addresses, on our behalf. We don't run analytics or count visitors individually.

Writing to us

If you email us, we keep the conversation so we can answer you and remember the context if you write again.

Legal basis

Where the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation applies, we rely on: contract for licence checks, purchases, support and refunds; legitimate interests for running and protecting the site and answering messages; and legal obligation for keeping accounting records.

How long we keep it

Order details are kept while your licence is in use and for as long as accounting law requires afterwards. Emails are kept while they're useful for support. Cloudflare keeps technical logs for a short time.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or ask for it in a portable form. Write to legal@playproof.app; there's no charge and you don't need to give a reason. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.

Data outside Europe

Stripe and Cloudflare may process data outside the EEA. Where they do, they rely on safeguards the GDPR permits, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

Children

Playproof is not aimed at children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
