The deck shows the track but won't play it.
The file is a type or quality this player can't handle. Playproof checks every track against your player and converts only the ones that need it, without making them sound worse.
For DJs · works in your browser
Playproof gets your music ready for the decks at the venue. It finds the tracks that won't load, the playlists that lost their songs and the files that sound worse than they should, and fixes them for you.
No account · your music stays on your computer · 30 players
01The player decides
Every player reads different files, and the model name won't tell you which. Pick yours to see what it plays and how your stick should be set up.
02Where gigs go wrong
It's usually the files or the stick. You can find and fix all four of these at home.
The file is a type or quality this player can't handle. Playproof checks every track against your player and converts only the ones that need it, without making them sound worse.
Newer and older Pioneer players look for different files on the stick. If yours has the wrong kind, you only see folders. Playproof's stick check tells you before you leave home.
You moved your music to a new drive or renamed a folder. Playproof finds each track where it is now and repairs the playlist. Everything else in it stays as it was.
Some files sold or shared as lossless were MP3s first. You won't hear it on a laptop, but you will in a club. Playproof spots them.
03Newer players
The newest AlphaTheta and Pioneer DJ players, like the CDJ-3000X and XDJ-AZ, only read OneLibrary. The CDJ-3000 and older players only read the classic Device Library. With the wrong one on your stick, the player shows your folders but none of your playlists or cue points.

04Eight tools
Choose the player at the venue, then use the tools you need. Each one tells you what it found in plain words, then does the work.
05Under the hood
You don't need to know any of this to use Playproof. It's here if you're curious.
Making an MP3 cuts off the highest sounds, and that cut stays in the file even if someone converts it to WAV or FLAC later. Playproof looks for that sharp cut. It won't flag a track just because it sounds dark: older recordings fade out gently at the top, and that's fine.
The chart is Playproof's real check, running in your browser on two test sounds. Switch between them.
Measured when it comes into view.
Apps like Shazam compare your mix with millions of songs online, and often miss edits, promos and tracks played much faster or slower. Playproof starts with the list of tracks your player or DJ software saved while you played, and listens for each of them in your recording.
It still finds a track played up to 15% slower or 18% faster, with or without key lock, through EQ, filters and long blends. A two-hour set takes a minute or two, on your own computer.
Three tracks mixed into each other, one sped up and one slowed down. A fourth track in the history was never played, so Playproof leaves it out. Try it yourself
Every DJ player reads sticks formatted as FAT32. But Windows' Format window only offers FAT32 up to 32 GB, and Windows and Mac can both leave a stick in a layout many players don't read.
Playproof's Stick Maker sets up any stick up to 2 TB the way players need it, on Windows or Mac, and checks the result.
06Who makes this
Playproof started as a few tools I made for my own gigs. I work in IT and I've always loved music, so fixing files and libraries came naturally to me. But the tools were made for me: a black window and a list of commands.
Most DJs don't work in IT, and they shouldn't have to. So I rebuilt the tools for everyone, with plain words and the right choices already made.
